Awesome for getting on the water, especially small lakes
I have the deluxe version of the Fish Cat 4. It has an inflatable seat and back, which I am told causes it to float you a little higher than the version with foam seat and back. To move about, you use fins. I use a pair that fits over my water shoes. The pockets are quite roomy with a lot of storage for tackle, camera, phone, scale, tools, etc. I usually wear water shorts and a quick drying nylon shirt. A sun hat of some sort is a good idea, you will be close to the water and typically exposed to the sun, so it is very easy to get sunburned…use your sunscreen. I have had fish large enough that they actually pulled me a short distance on the tube (5-6 ft). This is great for getting into tight spots, or places where there are no boat ramps. One could pack it in for fishing in remote spots. I have been using mine for about 3 years, I have never hooked it, though I have had to repair a bladder for a leak. I have even made a pvc contaption that lashes to the side of this for holding two rods and a fish finder. There is a whole subculture of folks doing these PVC mods, and tons of other float tube information on the forum at [...] ….. an overwhelming amount of information and advice can be found there.
I have a bass boat as well….sometimes I just have to return to the tube…..it is a blast!
Fish Cat is a blast
Love this little unit. I’m out in the water now and having a blast. Good excersize and feel really safe. Item stays level in the water and catching a fish at the height of the water is a real thrill.
