Ed Quigley has written an accurate practical guide to the sport of fly fishing. As an owner of a fly shop I have many customers looking to take up fly fishing and to learn its intricacies, this is the perfect book for that person. It is ideal for the new angler, and is a great read for the intermediate and advanced angler as well. This would be a great gift for your favorite angler or for yourself. From knots, to insects, to help with gear selection, this book is an asset to the fly fishers library.

Full of information any Fly Fisherman could use as well as great tips on how to deal with some of the challenges of the sport. Being new to the sport I especially enjoyed the book .. It truly does define the language of the sport.

Ed’s book stands out and actually, this fish “jumps” out (literally). You can count on Ed to pen a good story. Also with this book, he’s got enough fishing definitions to keep your attention for quite a while.

Practical and entertaining don’t normally mix this well!

I don’t usually write reviews. This guide deserves all 5 stars! Keeping the reader engaged while filling this book with his practical wisdom is something Ed Quigley accomplished and shared. That is a rarity.

Mr. Quigley has topped his last book (I also reviewed that). He is so obviously filled with passion on this subject it makes it a joy to read and refer back to. This “Old Timer” has many great years and stories yet to share.

So practical … so fun to read

I bought this book as a gift for my son who is new to fly fishing. He loved the practical tips AND the fun-to-read examples. His father-in-law — a lifelong fisherman — kept borrowing the book so much that I got him a copy, too. This is a really nice, conversational book. It is packed with illustrations and photos on just about everything you’d want to know about fly fishing. Reading it, you come away with really ingenious ways to stay comfortable in cold/hot/windy weather … get the right equipment and flies … make a cast, land a fish, and more. It’s the kind of book you browse cover to cover then keep handy forever!

What a great book! I gifted this to a dear friend who is a fly fisherman. He couldn’t thank me enough. He raved about what an easy read it was- told me even an “old dog like me learned some new tricks!” Next thing you know, he’ll ask me to go fishing with him …

Great book with enormous amount of info. Why however do you advertise that if one buys a book one gets others FREE and that has never happened.
